Are you a local business looking for a way to help out in the community on an ongoing basis?

Neighborhood Experts Real Estate and I recently teamed up with Food Backpacks 4 Kids as a sponsor for shelf-stable milk. We have committed to provide on a monthly basis milk boxes for their kids’ backpacks as well as quarts of shelf-stable milk for their Family Pantry. We are so happy to be able to contribute in this way, making sure our local families always have the food they need to remain healthy and happy members of our community.

What is Food Backpacks 4 Kids?

Food Backpacks 4 Kids desires to provide healthy food options to hungry children of families in need in Gig Harbor and on the Key Peninsula. They collect donations at two drive-by locations and distribute food by way of backpacks and Care Cupboards, both available at most elementary, middle, and high schools in the Peninsula School District. They also have a Family Pantry for any members of the community that are in need of food, and partner with the Harbor Hope Center in making home food deliveries for any families not able to shop themselves.

Do you want to become a monthly food sponsor, too?

It’s such a wonderful way to give back to the community and make sure there will always be a consistent supply of nutritious items for our families in need. It’s super easy, too! All you have to do is contact Food Backpacks 4 Kids to choose a food that you would like to sponsor, shop for that particular item in the needed amount, and then drop it off at FB4K’s headquarters in Lakebay. Or, if you want to join us in contributing shelf-stable milk, bring it to our office and we will deliver it for you!

For more information or to become a sponsor, please contact them at (253) 857-7401 or info@foodbackpacks4kids.org (be sure to include your phone number in your email!).

There are other ways to give!

If you would like to help out but aren’t able to commit to being a monthly sponsor, there are a variety of other ways to assist. Consider becoming a donor, hosting a food drive, providing fresh produce, dropping off items at one of their donation locations, or volunteering.

There are so many ways to contribute time, energy, and resources for others in our community. Please consider joining us in helping give where you live!
