South Sound local Troy Alstead has two great interests: to cultivate a place where people can connect while having fun and to be a good steward of our oceans and seas. He brought those two concepts together in April 2018 when he opened Ocean5 to the public.

Ocean5 is a unique social spot where people can gather and nurture community through activities, food, and drink. In the 57,000-square-foot facility you can enjoy a two-story laser challenge arena, huge arcade game room, 22 lanes for 10-pin and duckpin bowling, bowling suites that can be rented for private parties, a restaurant, and a coffee lounge. Their entertainment calendar is filled with comedy nights, live music, karaoke, movie nights, teen trivia, and more. They also have over 4,000 square feet of event space available for meetings, conferences, weddings, and other private occasions.

Alstead set out to create an exciting social hub that also acted as a beacon within Puget Sound. Ocean5, named for the five great oceans, is the first building of its kind to earn LEED Silver Certification and is operated as one of the most environmentally responsible businesses in the region. It seeks to drive awareness and motivate action that improves the health of our oceans. Ocean5 engages in the community through services like organized volunteer beach clean-ups, partnering with Harbor WildWatch, becoming a regular location for blood donations, and contributing to regional schools, nonprofit organizations, and select ocean-related groups.
