August is our final month to enjoy the many summer events in Gig Harbor before the kids go back to school. But don’t panic, there are still plenty of summer goodies to enjoy while the sunshine is still in our favor! From live music to cars shows, festivals and more, Gig Harbor is full of events and activities to help you wind your summer down with a win! So, mark your calendars, get set, and go!
Music at Kimball Coffeehouse
You’re in good company at this local gem where you can enjoy food, beer, wine, and coffee while enjoying live performances from their diverse music selection! Doors typically open at 6 pm, and the music starts at 7 pm and runs until 9 pm.

Cruise the Narrows Car Show

Cruise through memory lane in Uptown Gig Harbor as you feast your eyes on an entire show full of vintage and special interest vehicles!
Galloping Gertie Half Marathon
Saturday August 2, 2025 | 8am - 12pm
Gallop over to Tacoma Narrows for a half marathon that shows off Tacoma’s and Gig Harbor’s finest views. Each racer will run on the iconic Tacoma Narrows Bridge (aka Galloping Gertie)! All participants in the race will receive a custom finisher medal, free downloadable race photos and a cool tech tee! The best part? It costs $111 and all the proceeds support great local charities!

Dock Walk
Discover the sea life under Jerisich Dock with a Harbor WildWatch Naturalist with this free 30-60 minute tour at 2pm for the following dates:

Waterfront Farmers Market
Every Thursday | 1 pm to 6 pm
Head to Skansie Brothers Park to enjoy fresh produce, local artisans, food, and music. Enjoy it while it’s here, as the last farmer’s market will be on August 28th!
Summer Sounds at Skansie
Bring your chairs for the grass, pick a spot on the nearby Jerisich Dock, or listen from the water on your boat, kayak, or paddleboard as your enjoy the final month of music at Skansie Brothers Park. You can pack your snacks or delight in Gig Harbor’s unique and varied eateries. Each week features a different music group local to the Pacific Northwest, and with a wide array of genres—rock, pop, disco, and everything in-between:
August 5th : Flock of 80s, which describes itself as a synth pop/new wave cover band. Expect to hear songs originally performed by Duran Duran, The Cure, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, INXS and more.
August 12th: Kalimba, an Earth, Wind and Fire tribute group.
August 19th: 90s Rewind, a Seattle-based band playing the hits of the 1990s. The band covers songs by Alanis Morrissette, Stone Temple Pilots, The Cranberries, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and more.
August 26th: The Infinity Project, which describes itself as “The Northwest’s Premier Journey Cover Band.”
Uptown Summer Concert Series
Bring your lawn chair and good vibes to soak in the sunshine and free live music. Uptown Gig Harbor is where you can spend your Thursday evenings with our local favorites!

Gig Harbor's Rockin' R&B Festival

This beloved event is back and ready to rock for a good cause with its incredible lineup: Budapest West, Mr. Blackwatch, Roemen and the Whereabouts, HD Fusion, The Profits, The Gigsters, Soulful 88's, King Kom Beaux. This is a fun way to show your support, as 100% of proceeds from the festival go directly to the Permission To Start Dreaming (PTSD) Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the healing of veterans, first responders and their family members.
Wild Feminine Wellness Faire

Gather at Crescent Creek Park with a community rooted in healing, empowerment, and connection. This heart-led celebration is an inclusive space where diverse expressions of the feminine are honored through workshops, offerings, and marketplace offerings.
Millville Summer Wine Night

What sounds more fun that an evening of pairing the delicious Millville Pizza with the perfect wine and bubbles? This 21+ event is a great way to socialize with the community over a satisfying treat for your tastebuds!

Bring your little ones to the Gig Harbor Large Meeting Room to enjoy books, action rhymes, knee bounces, songs and playtime for socialization. All ages are welcome to this program that was designed for babies up to 18 months.
Chalk the Harbor

Registration: 9am - 12pm
This one day, free, family-friendly community event has been a long-standing beloved tradition here in the Harbor. Come participate or observe as the sidewalks of Harborview Drive transform into chalk creations of all shapes, sizes and skill levels. You can also count on some live art demonstrations, local artist showcases, and hands-on opportunities for attendees to get creative and interact with art in their own way.
Park Outreach

Enjoy a community day hosted by A New Beginning Family Christian Center with free hot dogs, games, and activities at Gateway Park.

With 8 convenient locations for donation drops, they have made it so easy for you!
There is a need for gently used or new clothing, shoes, and accessories.
Aside from this clothing drive, Food Backpacks 4 Kids operates year-round. They fill backpacks full of food each week for families who need it the most. This is an incredible organization to donate time, money and/or food to throughout the year. Get the whole family involved!
FISH Foodbank

This volunteer led and run organization began in 1976 with the ongoing motto “Neighbor Helping Neighbor.” Since then, they have continued to lend a neighborly hand and supportive smile. With over 200 volunteers they serve over 650 families per month with food each month.
Gently used clothing and household items are open to clients to take home on their regular shopping days. The foodbank also maintains a “wish list” so that items continue to be filled as needed for their clients. And of course, they are always accepting food and cash donations during business hours.

This is not just your ordinary thrift store. Whether you shop or donate here, your contributions make a HUGE impact on the future of some hard-working, local teens. All profits from this store benefit one of the largest high school scholarship programs in the state, the Peninsula Hawks Scholarship Fund. This lovely organization offers free clothing and more. With items available for babies and children, to adults of all ages, their mission is to clothe those in need within their community.
This donation drop-off may take a little more planning ahead due to the location and hours of operation. But the cause is still great, and the need is quite high! If you hurry, you can get your donations in for their free clothing giveaway this Saturday, August 9th!
Birds & Lilies hold irregular hours that are announced on their Facebook page, but they typically aim to be open on Tuesdays from 1 – 4pm.
St. Vincent De Paul Thrift Store

This thrift store and charitable organization prides itself on keeping the price tags on their gently used items at fair and affordable prices. They also help those is need with power, water, diapers, clothing, emergency food for the homeless, tents, school supplies, basic hygiene supplies and so much more. Their missions extends as they help with community service and continue to provide onsite job training for youth, adults, elderly, and special needs.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is a mentoring program designed to meet diverse community needs. From Community-Based mentoring, where Bigs and Littles connect on their own schedule, to Site-Based mentoring in schools and workplaces. This organization also provides group mentoring with role models who share similar backgrounds! Each program is about building connections, empowering young people, and inspiring potential across Puget Sound. Make a donation or donate clothing at any one of our 50-plus outdoor donation bins in the region!

Permission to Start Dreaming Foundation:
This foundation truly understands the impact of trauma on our nation’s veterans and first responders.
